Valve has launched a new Steam Charts page that's showcasing the top-played games on Steam Deck. This list is updated daily, allowing users to explore the top 100 games on Deck by week, month, or year.
It's been roughly two years since we launched Steam Deck, and we thought we'd take a look at the games being played on it the most in its second year! From new releases to old faves, and AAA titles to indies, here are the top 100 most-played games (in order by highest daily active player count) between March of 2023 and March of 2024, regardless of verified status, said Steam in a blogpost.
The new Steam Charts page highlighting the top-played games on Steam Deck follows closely the Steam rollout of the native game recording feature that's allowing users to record games and manage storage at the same time.
"We just shipped a new Steam Charts page featuring the top-played games on Steam Deck. This list is updated daily, and you can explore the top 100 games on Deck by week, month, or year," said on Steam Deck's X profile.
Valve also explained in a follow-up post on X that the data for the daily top 100 played games list is sourced from a rolling time window of the past week's stats.
The list serves as a new discovery method for users to find what to play on their Valve handheld. Valve has highlighted that a Steam game that runs great on a desktop PC might not offer the same experience on the Steam Deck, making this list particularly useful for Deck players.
It's also worth-noting that making the list isn't solely about the number of players. Lawrence Yang from Valve explained to The Verge that the metric used to determine the top-played games combines unique users and interest.
For instance, "Hades 2 has only been out for a month, but so many Steam Deck players have it as one of their top played games for the entire year that it was lifted in the rankings," Yang said.
The new Steam Charts page includes current pricing and promotions for the top 100 titles, launching alongside Valve's Summer Sale, which features a discount on the LCD Steam Deck. The list shows day-to-day changes in each game's ranking and indicates whether a title is verified for the console, ensuring it runs without compatibility issues.
By default, the list displays data from the past week, but users can also view the top 100 Steam Deck games from the past month or year. However, at the chart's launch, Elden Ring holds the top spot following the recent Shadow of the Erdtree release and subsequent patch.
Indie favorite Stardew Valley is in second place, while the popular deck-builder Balatro ranks third. Both Hades 2 and Hades have made it into the top ten. Surprisingly, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX holds fifth place, and Fallout 4 ranks sixth.
